Polaschek before school starts: “Test children on weekends” – Coronavirus

by time news

Education Minister Martin Polaschek calls for the corona test before school starts. Parents should have their children tested at the weekend.

On Monday after the Christmas break, school starts again with a safety phase. The classes are tested three times a week. In order to better protect the children and adolescents from the corona virus, Education Minister Martin Polaschek calls on them to test before returning to schools.

“Please have your children tested on the weekend before they go back to school on Monday,” the minister said in a broadcast. “The pupils were given three corona tests to take home with them before the holidays. I appeal to everyone to make use of this offer. A PCR test also makes sense wherever there is capacity.”

Regular testing can keep schools open

The aim is that children infected with Corona do not even come back to schools and cannot spread the virus there. Only completely healthy children should take part in face-to-face classes. “With a corona test before school starts, you help ensure that the schools can stay open. Only through regular testing can we closely monitor the infection process, take measures in good time and keep the schools as safe as possible,” continues Polaschek.

From January 17th, at least two PCR tests per week will take place in all schools in all federal states. This further increases security. All pupils must wear a mask. The number of infections is closely monitored and continuously reassessed.
