The crime was recorded on security cameras, which helped the National Police in their actions. One of the detainees has a criminal record.
Josué J., 26, and Joel Z., 23, were arrested by the National Police as suspects for the murder of citizen Juan Carlos Chacha, in Machala, capital of El Oro.
The first of those arrested has a criminal record for murder in 2020, while the second has no previous arrests. The arrest of the suspects took place on July 12, 2024, during a raid in the Las Palmeras Avenue sector, where two vehicles that were used during the murder were found.
The crime was recorded on security cameras, images that were used by the police to trace the suspects’ movements, as well as to identify the cars in which they were travelling. It is presumed that the murder of the 52-year-old man was caused by the confiscation of drugs in the Machala seaport in recent days, as the victim was scanning containers.
