Head of Public Relations of the Jambi Regional Police, Commissioner Mulia Prianto, said that this prohibition was implemented to maintain public comfort and security considering that firecrackers and other things can endanger many people.

There are four appeals issued by the Jambi Regional Police regarding the prohibition on the use of firecrackers, including that playing with firecrackers can cause trauma to children because the sound is quite loud. Moreover, if the child has never heard the sound of an explosion before.

Second, the risk of burns when playing with firecrackers if the explosion hits the body can cause quite severe burns.

“Burns can also vary in severity. Symptoms include blistered skin, swelling and even peeling,” he said.

Third, he said that firecrackers could also cause fires in the surrounding area. This can happen if when playing with firecrackers there are flammable materials in the playing area.

Fourth, playing with firecrackers can cause air pollution. Usually, after burning firecrackers, you often smell a burnt aroma which has the potential to cause shortness of breath, coughing, and even respiratory tract infections.

He emphasized that if there are people who dare to play with firecrackers carelessly and disturb the comfort and safety of other people, there will be legal sanctions awaiting them.
