A civilian police car crashed in connection with a car chase on Sunday morning. The incident occurred on Agnesfridsvägen, near Jägersro in Malmö.
At 05:30 a police patrol signaled a car to stop for a check in Malmö – but the driver had other plans and pressed the gas. Several patrols were sent to the scene and a pursuit began. After a while, the car could be stopped. Both the private car and a police car needed to be recovered from the scene, says police spokesperson Evelina Olsson.
According to witnesses on the scene, the police car must have driven off the road. It is unclear if anyone has been injured in connection with the hunt.
The police were able to arrest the driver who is suspected of drunk driving.
The incident highlights the dangers of drunk driving and the potential risks it poses not only to the driver but also to innocent civilians and law enforcement officers. Authorities continue to stress the importance of responsible driving and the dangers of driving under the influence.
