Police working with Kenyan authorities to locate murder suspect Kevin Kangethe

BOSTON – In a shocking turn of events, a missing woman who was found dead on Wednesday in a parking garage at Boston Logan International Airport has been determined to be the victim of a homicide. Authorities have revealed that the alleged killer, Kevin Kangethe, has fled the country and boarded a plane to Kenya.
The victim, identified as 31-year-old Margaret Mbitu, was discovered dead inside a vehicle in the airport’s parking garage. Mbitu’s family had reported her missing just two days prior, raising concerns about her safety. Their worst fears were confirmed when her lifeless body was found.

“At approximately 6:30 PM Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, Massachusetts State Troopers assigned to the Logan Airport Barracks located a vehicle occupied by a deceased adult female in the Central Parking garage at Logan Airport,” stated authorities in a press release. “A subsequent investigation… confirmed that the victim was the missing Whitman woman, Margaret Mbitu…Evidence indicates that she was the victim of a homicide.”
While Kangethe has managed to escape the country, officials are not giving up. Massachusetts State Police Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for him and are actively working with Kenyan authorities to locate and apprehend the suspect.
“We urge this suspect to turn himself in to authorities before he or anyone else gets hurt,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden in a statement. “We are making every effort possible to apprehend him and to begin the process of seeking justice for Margaret Mbitu and those mourning her tragic death.”
