The prefect of Antananarivo, General Angelo Ravelonarivo announced early yesterday evening a curfew in Grand Tana between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. A decision taken following the announcement of the collective of candidates and opposition deputies to hold parallel demonstrations today. In a twist, a few hours later, he announced the lifting of the established curfew.
In a press conference given at 9:30 p.m., the prefect affirmed that he wanted to exceptionally give authorization to demonstrate to the collective of candidates and to parliamentarians. The collective of candidates and deputies will be authorized to use the Antsonjombe Coliseum to hold their demonstration according to General Angelo Ravelonarivo.
Last Thursday, the opposition deputies were offered the Magro in Tanjombato by the prefect in the absence of authorization on the Place du 13 Mai. They replied that they are elected in Antananarivo Renivohitra but not in Atsimondrano and it would be logical for them to report on their activities in Grand Tana.
