Daniel “Red” Jones, a Hillsborough County police officer, has received praise after helping a mother deliver her baby inside a vehicle, in the middle of a highway in Florida, in the United States.
Through social networks, the video of the delivery began to go viral, recorded by Jones’s body camera and shared originally by local police.
The birth occurred on the shoulder of Highway 60 in Plant City on Sunday, April 30.
That day, a desperate driver approached “Red” Jones and told him that his wife was about to give birth. The officer immediately called the Hillsborough County Fire Department and followed the man to his car.
Body camera video shows Jones offering support and encouragement to the mother, while urging her to remain calm. Within minutes she was born a healthy baby girl.
Paramedics arrived shortly thereafter and transported the mother and daughter to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and care.

“There is so much evil and evil deeds in the world that little moments like that make it all worth it,” he added.
The baby is the sixth child for the woman and the third that Jones has helped deliver since she started working for the police force in 2001.

“This is the third time you have helped a citizen to give birth! While giving birth in the front seat of a car was not the original birth plan, Jones assured the mother of six that she was in good hands. I wish mom, dad and their new baby girl all the joy and happiness. Congratulations!” she added.
According to one Twitter post From a local news presenter, the newborn’s father is named Luis López, who thanked everyone who helped with Lexela’s birth.
“I want to thank the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Department for having amazing officers who helped us deliver our baby girl,” she said.
