A TikTok user shared a video that captures the moment in which an officer from the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City (SSC-CDMX) hits a dog at a train station. Metrobus.
The material, which spread quickly on social networks, shows the agent using a stick to attack the animal, which sparked the indignation of the witness and several netizens.
The attack took place in the Venustiano Carranza station on Metrobús Line 5as reported by the SSC-CDMX in an official statement issued after the video was broadcast.
In response to the complaint, personnel from the Auxiliary Police General Inspection Directorate identified the responsible officer, who was summoned to present his statement regarding the incident.
The institution took immediate measures, suspending the police officer involved while the relevant investigations are carried out.
In addition, the General Directorate of Internal Affairs of the SSC has initiated an internal administrative investigation to clarify the facts and take the necessary measures.
The SSC of Mexico City, in its statement, strongly condemned the attack on the dog and reaffirmed its commitment to not tolerate conduct contrary to the code of ethics and the principles that govern the institution.
Likewise, they assured that any act of police abuse or out of protocol will be investigated and punished in accordance with the law.
