jpnn.comSEMARANG – The student masses who took part in the Central Java Movement demonstration at Semarang City Hall considered the police’s dispersal using tear gas to be very brutal.

The repeated tear gas shots by the police made the students run in disarray. Added to that were the water cannon shots.

JPNN.com monitoring at the location at 20.12 WIB, dozens of students from various campuses were weak and fainted in the Paragon Mall lobby.

During the incident at the location, several Paragon Mall outlets were immediately closed. The effects of tear gas were still felt. Meanwhile, ambulances were going back and forth carrying injured students.

Ghifari, a student at Semarang State University (Unnes) who took part in the action, said that many of his campus friends were injured.

“There were many injured from Unnes itself, around 20 people. They were short of breath. They were taken to the hospital,” said Ghifari, at the location.

According to him, the dispersal of the demonstration by the authorities was very brutal. He considered the police to have fired tear gas indiscriminately.

“It was brutal, the police fired tear gas here and there. In all directions,” he said, calling it not in accordance with standard operating procedures.(mcr5/jpnn)
