Police Investigate Two Murders Following Shooting at Mulligans Pub in Sandviken

March 10, 2022

In a tragic incident, two murders have occurred at Mulligans pub in Sandviken, leading to an ongoing investigation by the local police authority. The victims have been identified as a man in his 20s and a man in his 70s. Additionally, a 45-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were also injured in the shooting.

During a press conference, the police revealed that the man in his 20s was the intended target. As the investigation unfolds, the authorities are working tirelessly to apprehend the culprits responsible for this senseless act of violence.

However, the incident has sparked a wave of criticism from the Moderates in Sandviken, who have voiced their concerns about the current state of the Police Authority. Group leader Jonas Klang and municipal councilor Jonny Bratberg released a press release stating that the police force in Sandviken has been gradually dismantled, coinciding with an increase in serious crimes.

They insist that the Police Authority’s organizational system has suffered a significant error, and national police chief Anders Thornberg bears the ultimate responsibility for the organization’s performance. Consequently, they are demanding a fresh start with new leadership, starting with the appointment of a new national police chief. This demand has also been forwarded to Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer, who is urged to take immediate action.

In response to the criticism, Peter Kärnström, a social democratic municipal councilor, emphasized that the focus of the municipality remains on ensuring the safety of its residents. While he was unsure about any decrease in police presence in Sandviken, Kärnström called for increased police visibility to instill a sense of security among the local population.

He stated, “Our expectation from the police now is to have officers patrolling the streets and squares, assuring the safety of Sandviken residents. The priority is to have a strong police presence and prompt response to any incidents.”

Regarding the call to remove the national police chief, Kärnström expressed his reservations, saying, “I haven’t made a final decision on that matter. Right now, my focus is still on the incident that occurred in Sandviken.”

As the investigation progresses, the local community mourns the loss of the two victims and hopes for swift justice to ensure such tragedies do not happen again. The incident at Mulligans pub has prompted a broader conversation about public safety and the need for an effective and well-organized police force.
