jpnn.comPEKANBARU – The Riau Police Narcotics Research Directorate arrested Briptu AW, a police officer from the North Musi Rawas (Muratara) Police, South Sumatra, for alleged involvement in a network distributing 10 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 5 thousand ecstasy pills.

Briptu AW was also arrested by the Riau Police Team when they uncovered a drug network called the Sultan of Malaysia.

However, until now, Briptu AW still has the status of a witness and has not been named a suspect.

“The member (Briptu AW, ed.) was asked for help by one of the suspects with the initials BFI to take the goods, but AW did not know that they were drugs,” said Head of Public Relations of the Riau Police, Senior Commissioner Anom Karbianto in Pekanbaru, Thursday (19/9/2024).

Based on BFI’s statement, he and Briptu AW are cousins.

Briptu AW himself is also suspected of being involved in a desertion case at his place of duty, the Mutarata Police.

The Riau Police have coordinated with the South Sumatra Police regarding the case involving Briptu AW.

Senior Commissioner Anom Karbianto said that the South Sumatra police officer, Briptu AW, who was arrested by the Riau Police in connection with the Sultan of Malaysia’s drug network is not yet a suspect.
