Police presented the first results of the intervention in Durán

The ‘Durán Intervention’ operation was carried out with the support of the National Police and the Armed Forces.

The National Police presented the first balance of results of the intervention carried out in Duranin Guayas, one of the cantons with the highest crime rates in the Ecuador.

Through a press conference, Pablo Davilacommander of the Zonal District 8 of the Police, gave details of the simultaneous operations that were carried out in this sector, during the early hours of this Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

The operation ‘Duran intervention‘, carried out with the support of the Armed ForcesYes, had three phasesexplained Dávila: an intervention of raids, one of containment of chronic locations and a last one of focused interventions that will be carried out with tactical intelligence units.

The first balance in the canton resulted in the arrest of seven peopleamong them, that of Edgar L.an alleged member of the criminal gang ‘Chone Killers’; the individual is considered to be intermediate value.

Edgar L. was arrested in a house, where a firearm with five rounds of ammunition and two cell phones.

In the 80 raids carried out by the National Police this Wednesday, in addition, the following were found:

2. 117 unexploded cartridges
3. 1 vehicle reported as stolen
4. 3 motos reported as Stolen
5. $2,537
6. 884 grams of drugs
7. 1 communication radio
8. 5 cell phones

Land trafficking in Duran

Among the operations carried out by law enforcement authorities, irregularities were also recorded with an alleged crime of land trafficking in Duran.

In total, 497 casas were inspected, of which 258 were notified. Five houses were demolished in the La Delia sector, informal settlements.

Delia was intervened with 1,100 military and police personnelexplained President Daniel Noboa.

Actions in conjunction with the Secretariat of Settlements allowed the apprehension of two people for the crime of Illegal land use and land trafficking.

“These types of operations will be constant and permanentwith the intention of ensuring the safety of the people of Durán,” said Commander Pablo Dávila.

Daniel Noboa referred to Duran’s intervention

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa leads the security operations in the canton of Durán since Thursday, July 11.

That day, the president announced that the government authorities will be present in this sector to “combat organized crime“.

“We are here present and we will continue to be close to you with all our strength, power and determination to confront you and face you,” said Noboa.

On Wednesday, July 17, Daniel Noboa spoke about the activities he carries out in Durán with the National Police and the Armed Forces.

The official, for example, reported the discovery of a parallel office of the municipality which allegedly facilitated land trafficking and illicit business.

He also criticized the former politicians for perpetuating violence and drug trafficking, assuring that his administration will not allow this to continue.

“Progress has never come to Durán, development has never come,” said Noboa.
