Jair Bolsonaro confirmed on Wednesday May 3 that his home in Brasilia had been raided by federal police as part of an investigation into the alleged falsification of anti-Covid vaccination certificates. However, he denied any wrongdoing. “I was surprised by this search (…). I didn’t falsify anything. The federal police explained earlier in the day in a press release that they had carried out a total of sixteen searches, in Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia, aimed at “a criminal network” suspected “to insert false Covid vaccination data into public health systems”, but without naming Mr. Bolsonaro by name. The false vaccination certificates would have been “used to circumvent health restrictions imposed by public authorities in Brazil and the United States”can we also read in the press release.
According to local media, Mauro Cid, former aide-de-camp to Mr. Bolsonaro during his presidency, was arrested as part of the police operation.
