Mahoney, Jones, Harris, Hightower, Hooks, Callahan, Tackleberry, Lassard, Proctor, Mauser, Zed: those who grew up in the eighties and nineties certainly know how to rattle off this formation by heart. In this case, football has nothing to do with it: these are just some of the protagonists of Police School, the craziest military academy film series in the world (the first two chapters of the saga can be seen again Saturday 21 August on Italia 1 starting at 14.25). The best known face of all the agents who took turns in the seven films – shot between 1984 and 1994 – is perhaps that of Carey Mahoney played by Steve Guttenberg. The actor at the time of the Police School has known a great popularity: he acted in films that later became very famous such as Three bachelors and a baby, Cocoon, Short circuit, Casper. He later appeared in some TV series (Law & Order, Veronica Mars, Life according to Jim, The Goldbergs) and participated in Dancing with the stars, an American version of Dancing with the stars. Always engaged in social work, in 2011 he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
