jpnn.comYAHUKIMO – Yahukimo Police, Papua Mountains are pursuing the perpetrators of a shooting around the Old Market in front of the local police headquarters which resulted in the death of a resident.
Papua Police Public Relations Chief Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo said the incident occurred on Tuesday (20/8) at around 21.00 WIT.
“From this incident, the Yahukimo Police guard personnel immediately rang the checkpoint bell and informed the ranks using a Handytalkie (HT),” he said.
According to Benny, the joint personnel from the Yahukimo Police, Brimob Yon D and the Cartenz Peace Task Force then carried out pursuit and blockade efforts because the perpetrator was suspected of riding a two-wheeled vehicle that was heading towards Jalan Gunung.
Yahukimo Police Chief AKBP Heru Hidayanto said that when the personnel guarding the Cartenz 2024 Sekla Peace Task Force Post Picket were conducting a blockade, one person was seen riding a two-wheeled vehicle at high speed towards the mountain road.
“The ODC 2024 Sekla Post Picket who carried out the blockade gave a signal using a flashlight for drivers to stop, but the drivers increased their vehicle speed and headed towards the personnel carrying out the blockade,” he said.
Furthermore, the Cartenz Peace Action Task Force and Brimob Yon D Polda Papua conducted parameters in the crime scene area with Co 54M 333611 9464190.
“After completing the crime scene investigation, the Yahukimo Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the joint team headed to Dekai Hospital to conduct a post-mortem examination by the Dekai Hospital medical team,” he said.
Police are still hunting for the perpetrators of the shooting near the Yahukimo Police, Papua Mountains.
