Indore: A police officer’s ‘undercover operation’ helped identify the accused in the ragging complaint that has dogged the Madhya Pradesh police for five months. Shalini Chauhan, a constable of the Sanyogitaganj police station, found the accused while walking around the medical college canteen pretending to be a student. Senior police officials said that it took about three months for the 24-year-old police officer to find important information related to the case and identify the accused.

The complaint contained only screenshots of some WhatsApp conversations and location information of places where senior students had called junior students to rag. Due to this, the police team directly reached the college and conducted an investigation, but due to fear, none of the students shared the information. Although it was decided to conduct an inquiry based on the phone number where the complaint was lodged, it could not be forwarded as per the policy of the helpline system. This is the medi. The police decided to conduct an investigation centered on the college and appoint a special team for a secret operation.

In the first phase, SI Satyajeet Chauhan went around the campus and around the Mufti and collected information. Evidence was also collected against some students. But it became a challenge to identify them from the college where many children are studying. With this, it was decided to send Shalini to conduct a secret investigation in the college campus.

Then Shalini collected information by focusing on the college canteen for three months. The police officer got a lot of information about ragging in the college by making friends with the students. Two other male police officers were also present on the campus to assist them.

Policemen Rinku and Sanjay used to hand over the information collected from the boys in the campus to Shalini. Shalini was also responsible for verifying this information.

By constantly monitoring the students and collecting other information, the police identified 11 people who were ragging the junior students. After days of observation, the police officer realized that the behavior of all of them was very brutal.

It is also clear that there is a special section for ragging junior students. The investigation revealed that the senior students living in the hostels are the victims of ragging while the day scholars are being ragged by the seniors who are day scholars. It also became clear that they were preying on junior students, including those with sexual disabilities. Following this, the police issued notices to 11 senior students who were ragging the juniors.

Inspector-in-charge Tahseeb Khawazi informed that nine of the 11 students who were given notices are natives of Madhya Pradesh. One is from Bengal and the other from Bihar. One’s father is a policeman. Others have parents who are teachers, techies and farmers. He said that the authorities have suspended all the 11 people who were given notice in the ragging case from the hostel and college for three months.
