The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) is launching a new initiative that promises to help policyholders apply for institute benefits that depend on medical expertise.

The measure, which was published by means of an ordinance in the Official Journal of the Union (DOU) this Tuesday (16), will guarantee help to taxpayers through adequate equipment and help from trained professionals when it comes to applying for benefits for incapacity, which depend on the expertise to be granted, presenting only medical certificates through the Meu INSS application.

The novelty does not yet have a date for implementation, but it will happen through a partnership between the Ministry of Social Security and states and municipalities, trade union organizations and other civil society organizations, as well as private entities.

How will it work

Policyholders can currently apply for this type of benefit through the application, but the measure ends up being ineffective due to the low quality of the documents sent and the difficulty in accessing and handling them. Currently, the taxpayer can send a photo of his medical certificate through the application so that the evaluation can be done remotely, but the document ends up not being used.

According to the text of the initiative, the government wants to train employees to assist policyholders in opening the requests made by the system, while the partner entities will provide places with adequate electronic equipment to carry out the requests.

In order to guarantee security, in these environments, the policyholders themselves will enter their login and password, without passing on personal data to the employees, and the employees will only provide face-to-face guidance with the step-by-step instructions for sending the medical certificate, saving the scheduling of the expertise, which currently has a queue of months, which prevents the granting of the benefit.

The help will be free of charge to policyholders who request the service and can be used in locations where the waiting time for carrying out the expertise is longer than 30 days.
