Warsaw: Polish President Andrzej Duda in the presence of the Mother of God to thank the Mother of God for the good things she has given for the country and the people. He, who is also a Catholic, joined the pilgrimage organized by the prominent Christian media ‘Radio Marija’ to Jasna Gora, a famous Marian pilgrimage center in Poland, and prayed in the presence of Marian.

It was also noticeable that the President addressed tens of thousands of pilgrims from different parts of the country before the rituals. He mentioned the Christian visions and marriage and family values that strengthen Poland and thanked the people who are dedicated to preserving the Polish culture based on Christian values.

“As the President of Poland, I can say without a doubt that loyalty to Christian values is paramount to the country’s growth. We have been living together based on Christian values for the past 1050 years. The nation is made strong by its citizens who embrace the family as the most important and fundamental unit. Thank you for standing up for family values with this conviction,’ he added.

The devotees came to Jasna Gora to seek the intercession of the Holy Virgin, carrying holy images and flowers and singing hymns to the Holy Mother of God. Located in Czestochowa, Jasna Gora is a pilgrimage site where the image of ‘Our Lady of Czestochowa’, known as the ‘Black Madonna’, was established. The country’s reverence for this painting, believed to have been painted by Saint Luke, is also unique.

Jasna Gora can be described as the Queen of Poland. In 1652, the Polish King John II Casimir declared the Mother of God as the Queen of the country and gave special importance to the Black Madonna form. On September 8, 1717, Pope Clement XI elevated the image of the Mother to canonical coronation.

Andrzej Duda, who took over as the Polish president in 2015, visited Jasna Gora for prayers for the first time. It was big news that he reached Jasna Gora in March 2020 to seek the intercession of the heavenly Lord in the context of the spread of Corona virus. He begged for intercession not only in Poland, but also for the Polish people who are in other countries for work and other reasons, and he returned from there by participating in the evening prayer at the church.
