Being neutral without negotiating with anyone is an agenda to make someone win. The Chief Minister of Jaffna City V. Manivannan said that it is the imperative of the time to eliminate the Tamil parties who are acting in this way.
The Chief Minister of Jaffna City said this while commenting on the current situation to the media yesterday.
He further stated,
“Now is the time to win the aspirations of the Tamil people. It can be observed that even the forces fighting in South Lanka are slowly paying attention to the issues related to the Tamil people.
A comprehensive solution to Sri Lanka’s ethnic problem will be the solution to the current economic problem.
We should give up narrow goals and think for Tamil people
Tamil parties should take advantage of the current opportunity to take a decision in the presidential election. Tamil parties should give up narrow objectives and think for Tamil people.
It is imperative that people who say Tamil nationalism, members of parliament, parties unite and take a decision for the benefit of the Tamil people and act as one.
It is imperative that the parties representing the Parliament consult together with the public organizations on what position to take on behalf of the Tamil people in this presidential election.
This must be done in consultation with politically minded paleontologists in Tamil civil society. They may have a personal agenda if they say they won’t advise.
Even if someone says that they will not unite and decide together for the issue of deciding the fate of the Tamils, there is a state of doubt on them.
Bargaining opportunities
Bargaining opportunities are increasing. It is imperative to get promises from those who may become the President on the basis of short-term issues and long-term issues for the Tamil people.
At least a promise should be obtained for the release of political prisoners, the release of occupied lands, and the guarantee of providing a solution to the problem of missing persons.
In order to develop the afflicted North East, we must agree with the incoming rulers to establish a North East centric Economic Authority and insist on its establishment.
A political settlement should be insisted upon and an assurance awaited.
Tamil people will give a suitable lesson
We want to say that if our parties fail to do this and throw word nets, the Tamil people will create a storm in the North-East like the one that happened to those political parties in the South.
It will turn out to be an unforgettable experience not only in the South Lankan political arena but also in the Tamil political leaders in the future.
Tamil people will be taught a befitting lesson if they simply abandon this opportunity,” he said.
