Barely created, the Sacred Union disintegrates. Etienne Soropogui, the leader of ”Our common values”, dissociates himself. Sidya Touré’s Union of Republican Forces is wary of this.
On April 22 at the headquarters of the Ufdg, political coalitions and civil society set up the Sacred Union, in order to force the junta to organize elections at the end of the transition in December 2024. But, the same Today, political leaders have dissociated themselves from the new coalition.
Etienne Soropogui, the leader of “Our Common Values” and member of ANAD, National Alliance for Alternation and Democracy, said he was surprised by the establishment of the Sacred Union. In a statement dated April 22, he denounced “a lack of courtesy, respect, consideration and elegance towards us.”
For him, “deliberately refusing to debate such an important subject within the coalition constitutes a serious and serious mistake that could have quite serious implications for the future” of ANAD. “Sometimes, Guineans have difficulty understanding us so much that some of our actions and actions are riddled with contradictions and inconsistencies. This umpteenth coalition will have no other future than to simply disintegrate, because the intimate motivations of most of its members are the opposite of those officially announced,” denounces the declaration.
On April 23, in a declaration, the Communication Unit of the Union of Republican Forces indicated that it was in favor of the content of the declaration of the Sacred Union, but was not a signatory. “The Ufr recalls that it remains firmly attached to its first commitments contained in the various declarations of the Forces vives de Guinée to which it is a signatory. The party reaffirms its commitment to the principles of democracy, justice and dialogue, which are at the heart of its political action,” recalls the declaration.
The Ufr campaigns for an inclusive dialogue framework and “firmly believes that dialogue is essential” to resolve disputes and facilitate the return to constitutional order.
