“It is difficult to judge based on the alleged allegations alone. These suspicions are related to her (E. Tamošiūnaitė – ELTA) mandate as a member of the Vilnius City Council”, said Daniel Ilkevič, a “libertarian” who belongs to the Vilnius District Council, to Eltai.
As he emphasized, there are questions about the transparency of the work of E. Tamošiūnaitė, who may have misused the funds of a member of the capital city council.
“The vice-mayor holds a high political position in a large Lithuanian municipality, she contributes to the making of various decisions, therefore, in my opinion, she should stop her activities. Such suspicions cast doubt on her political transparency. However, this is a matter for everyone’s personal decision,” emphasized the opposition representative of the Vilnius District Council.
The district liberal Stasys Mušeikis also agreed that such suspicions cast a shadow on the work of any politician. According to him, the vice mayor could refer to the examples of those who appeared in the “cheques” case.
“It’s difficult to say something – an investigation has been started, we need to wait for its conclusion. Of course, this is the responsibility of every politician. In similar situations, responsible politicians stop their activities until the results of the investigation become clear,” asserted S. Mušeikis.
However, E. Tamošiūnaitė herself did not want to comment on the situation related to the allegations made by STT.

Vilnius District Mayor Robertas Duchenvičius and LLRA-KŠS leader Waldemars Tomaszewskis, who are currently on vacation, said they were not familiar with the situation yet. In the list of candidates for the Seimas of the latter political force, E. Tamošiūnaitė is listed as number seven.
ELTA reminds that last week STT filed suspicions against Edita Tamošiūnaitei, a former member of the Vilnius City Municipality Council, regarding the possible misuse of funds allocated to pay the expenses of the council member’s activities.
