jpnn.comBANDA ACEH – The men’s soccer match of the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra PON between the Aceh and Central Sulawesi teams ended in chaos on Saturday (14/9) evening WIB.

Referee Eko Agus Sugih Harto was beaten to the ground and rushed to the ambulance.

The incident occurred in the quarter-final match which took place at Dimurthala Stadium, Banda Aceh.

Referee Eko was considered to have taken a number of controversial decisions, culminating in him awarding two penalty kicks to the Aceh team a few minutes before the match ended.

The Central Sulawesi players responded to Eko’s decision with a beating.

PSSI General Chairman Erick Thohir strongly condemned it.

He emphasized that the heaviest sanctions threaten players and referees involved in the incident.

“Embarrassing. Very embarrassing. PSSI will thoroughly investigate this incident and will impose the heaviest sanctions!” Erick said in his written statement, Sunday (15/9).
