On the occasion of Pongal festival, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin will inaugurate the Pongal gift package program on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government tomorrow in Chennai. Prize package will be distributed in all districts of Tamil Nadu as per this scheme tomorrow.

It is customary for the Tamil Nadu government to provide Pongal packages through fair price shops every year on the occasion of Pongal, a Tamil festival. Accordingly, it has been announced that Pongal gift package will be given to 2.19 crore rice family card holders this year as well. Accordingly, 1 kg of sweet rice, 1 kg of sugar, whole sugarcane including Rs.1000 are included in this package.

On behalf of the Tamil Nadu government, sugarcane is procured from all over Tamil Nadu in 17 districts and brought to fair price shops by heavy vehicles and distributed. The Tamil Nadu government has allocated Rs.71 crores only for the purchase of sugarcane.
Tokens for getting Pongal package have already been distributed to public with date and time. In this case, Chief Minister M.K.Stalin will inaugurate this program tomorrow morning at the fair price shop in Alwarpet area of Chennai.

Following this, Pongal packages will be distributed in all districts across Tamil Nadu based on the scheme. It has been informed that the public can get their Pongal package till the 13th. The government said that those who are unable to buy on this date can get their Pongal package on the 16th.
