Pongal Gift Package Announced by Tamil Nadu Government
The Pongal Thirunal, a traditional festival celebrated by Tamil people all over the world, is approaching and the Tamil Nadu government has announced a Pongal gift package for rice family card holders and families living in Sri Lankan Tamil rehabilitation centers. The government has allocated 238 crores and 92 lakh rupees for this purpose, which will benefit 2 crore 19 lakh 57 thousand 402 family card holders. The Pongal gift set includes one kg of tamarind, one kg of sugar, and whole sugarcane.
In addition to the Pongal gift package, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has announced that Rs. 1000 cash will be given to Rice family card holders. This cash incentive will be distributed before the Pongal festival at all Fair Price Shops. The government has also extended its support to families affected by floods by providing Rs. 6,000 as relief funds.
Furthermore, the Tamil Nadu government has announced that over 1 crore 15 lakh beneficiaries under the Artist Women’s Rights Scheme will receive monthly Rs. 1000 entitlement, which will be credited before the Pongal festival. The government has appointed additional officers to consider appeals from more than 11 lakh 85 thousand people requesting artist royalties under the scheme.
Despite facing a severe financial crisis, the Tamil Nadu government has prioritized the well-being of its citizens and has vowed to support them during the upcoming Pongal festival. It is evident that the government is committed to providing relief and support to its residents during these challenging times.
