Chennai: Mani Ratnam’s Brahmanda is gearing up for Ponniyan Selvan’s release. Along with that, the motion poster of the film was released. The motion poster of the film has also been presented with the tag line ‘Cholanlamar varamu’. The film will release in theaters on September 30 this year. Ponniyin Selvan is one of the most awaited films of the audience.

There were reports that Amazon Prime has acquired the digital rights of the film. It is reported that Amazon Prime Video has acquired the digital rights of both parts of the film. Amazon Prime Video acquired the digital rights of the film for Rs 125 crore.

Ponniyan Selvan is a film produced by Mani Ratnam based on the world famous historical novel by the legendary writer Kalki (the name of the novel is Ponniyan Selvan). Ponniyan considers Selvan to be the greatest historical novel in Tamil. Mani Ratnam brings Kalki’s masterpiece to the big screen with a huge star cast.

Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Lal, Rahman, Riaz, Khan, Khishor, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lakshmi, Shobhita Dhulipala and many others are lined up in the film. The two-part film is produced by Mani Ratnam’s own Madras Talkies and Leica Productions. AR Rahman is the music director.

Ponniyan Selvan is a novel about the crises, struggles, sacrifices and achievements of the Chola Emperor in the 10th century. The film is based on the story of Arulmozhi Varman and the Chola dynasty. The novel is written in five parts.

Films based on the same novel have been tried before. MGR tried to make this film in 1958 but later abandoned the attempt. Poniyin Selvan is a long time project of Mani Ratnam. Efforts to make the film started in 2012, but it was postponed due to financial difficulties.
