Mani Ratnam has adapted Ponniin Selvan, a novel written by author Kalki, into a film. Produced by Laika, the film stars Karthi, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha and many others. Rahman has composed the music. The film released on 30th and has attracted the fans. Since it is a story that has been circulating among the people for almost 70 years and many people have been waiting for it, families have been going to the theaters and enjoying it. As a result, the film collected 200 crore rupees in the first three days of its release.
Not only has it been well received at the box office, but many say that Mani Ratnam has shot realistically without distorting the essence of the novel. But Ponni’s Selvan is a little disappointing for those who have not read the novel. Also there is a rumor that Ponni’s Selvana is being compared to Baahubali.
