Ubisoft has begun introducing pop-up ads mid-play of its video games, displaying discount offers for its recently released title Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which players say disrupts the experience.

Currently, the video game developer shows advertising for new titles and content within the main menu of the games, so that users can stay up to date with their news and have quick access to said downloads.

However, some users have stated that Ubisoft has begun to implement advertising that appears directly during the course of a game in some of its video games.

Specifically, the pop-up ad shows an offer on the occasion of Black Friday for the new Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the installment that the company launched at the beginning of October and that revives the origins of the saga.

This was detailed by the user triddell24 in a post on Reddit, in which, as shown through a video, the advertising took up the entire screen, after trying to open the map during a game of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Once the ad is displayed, users can close it automatically by simply pressing the action button or, on the other hand, they can access the purchase page for the advertised game.

Following this line, as other users have made known, it is an advertising mode that appears in previous installments of Assassin’s Creed, both on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, so it is a novelty introduced by Ubisoft.

However, it is unknown whether these ads have appeared in the purchased version of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey or in the version available through the Ubisoft+ subscription. At the moment, the video game developer has not commented on the matter.
