Sudhakaran MP said that senior Congress leader AK Antony’s opinion that going to places of worship and wearing sandalwood is not a sign of communalism is part of the general political policy followed by the Congress till date. The Congress has always been strongly opposed to the poisoned mind of communal thinking. Congress is not a party that divides people on the basis of religion. It is a movement committed to safeguarding India’s secularism and stability by maintaining religious harmony. Therefore, we cannot exclude anyone on the basis of customs.
Congress, which preserves secular values and a high sense of democracy, cannot engage in a struggle with communalism. That is the tradition of Congress, the largest democratic party in India. Every citizen has the right to choose and believe in the religious practices of his choice. No one becomes a communalist by going to mosques and temples. The Congress, which accepts the integrity and diversity of the country and moves forward, cannot discriminate people on the basis of caste, religion, language, class, colour, food and dress. But CPM and BJP have a style of taking political advantage by dividing the believers by giving them a communal color. The BJP, which claims the monopoly of Hinduism, cannot embrace the broad-mindedness of that religion.
The Congress, which sees all as equals, has always strongly opposed communalism, which undermines the peace and unity of the country. More will continue. AK Antony’s statement is from the general political consciousness of the Congress. It is 100 percent correct which can be added to the secular views of the Congress. AK Antony has made a restatement of the political vision that the Congress has been following for ages. The culture of Congress is to keep all secular minds untouched by communalism. K.
