Pope blasts ‘childlike’ wars at Bahrain interfaith summit | The best religions of the world must unite for peace

Manama,

Pope Francis, who is on a tour of Bahrain, spoke at the interfaith summit organized by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in the capital Manama yesterday.

He then said, “Although the world seems to be divided like 2 opposing seas, the presence of religious leaders together is proof that they choose the path of meeting instead of conflict and want to sail in the same waters. The best religions of the world must work together for peace.”

Continuing on the war in Ukraine, the Pope said, “We see a childish scene. In the garden of humanity, instead of nurturing our surroundings, we play with weapons of sadness and death, such as fire, missiles and bombs. We cover our common home with ashes and hatred. Peace negotiations require an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine.” ” he said.

The conference was attended by leading Muslim imams, the head of the world’s Orthodox Christians, and American clerics who have long been involved in interfaith dialogue.
