From the Sanctuary of Fátima, this Saturday, August 5, Pope Francis exhorted to pray the Holy Rosary for the end of the war and for world peace, at the same time that he launched a prayer to consecrate to the Virgin Mary “the Church and the world, especially countries at war.

After the Rosary of Pope Francis in the Portuguese sanctuary, the @Pontifex account spread a message with the following prayer from the Pontiff to Our Lady of Fatima:

Oh Mary, we love you and we trust you. And to you, now, we entrust ourselves again. With the heart of children we consecrate our lives to you, every fiber of our being, everything we have and what we are, forever.

We consecrate the Church and the world to you, especially countries at war. Obtain peace for us. You, Virgin of the way, open trails where it seems they don’t exist. You, who unties the knots, undoes the entanglements of selfishness and the ties of power. You, who never let yourself be outdone in generosity, fill us with tenderness, fill us with hope and make us taste the joy that does not pass, the joy of the Gospel. Amen.

The prayer before the image of the Virgin in Fatima

After entering the Chapel of the Apparitions this morning, Pope Francis venerated the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Fatima and paused in silent prayer for several minutes, accompanied by some 200,000 faithful and pilgrims present.

The director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, explained to reporters that in that “long moment of silence” in the Chapel before the Virgin “the Pope prayed, with pain, for peace.”

A kind of anticipation of the fourth mystery of the Rosary recited shortly after before the Shrine, which had that same plea in its heart, commented the Vatican spokesman.
