Pope Francis in Bahrain tomorrow; Ready to receive

Preparations have been completed to receive Pope Francis, who will arrive in Bahrain tomorrow for a four-day official visit. The Pope’s visit to Bahrain at the invitation of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa will continue until the 6th of this month. The Pope will also participate in the Bahrain Dialogue Forum. The Bahraini Cabinet meeting assessed that Bahrain upholds the message of cooperation and unity and that the Pope’s visit will be useful for strengthening the policy positions of coexistence. The meeting welcomed the Pope’s visit, stressing that Bahrain remains committed to upholding human rights and promoting peace.

Elaborate preparations were made to receive the Pope, who is visiting the country for the first time. An official reception will be given to the Pope who will arrive at Sakhir Airbase at 4.45 pm on Thursday. King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa will meet at Sakhir Palace at 5:30 p.m. At 6.10am, the Pope will attend a reception in the courtyard of Sakhir Palace and at 6.30am, the Pope will meet with dignitaries from various fields. The Pope will attend the closing ceremony of the conference on the theme ‘East and West for Human Coexistence’ at 10 am on Friday. The conference will be held at Zakir Royal Palace Al Fida Square. Al Azhar Grant Imam Dr. Eminent people including Ahmad Attwayyib will participate in the conference. The Pope will meet with the Grand Imam of Al Azhar at 4 pm that day. Meetings and prayers for peace will be held with members of the Muslim Council of Elders at Sakhir Palace Mosque at 4.30 p.m. and with representatives of the Christian Church at Our Lady of Arabia Cathedral at 5.45 p.m.

The Pope will offer Holy Mass at the Bahrain National Stadium at 8.30 am on Saturday. He will meet with the youth at Sacred Heart School at 5 pm. After attending prayers at Manama Sacred Heart Church at 9.30 am on Sunday morning, the Pope will see off at Sakhir Airbase at 12.30 pm. Registration is in progress through the website bahrainpapalvisit.org to attend the Mass to be held at the Bahrain National Stadium on the 5th of this month.
