On Saturday, June 3, Pope Francis received Bishop Fernando Ocáriz, Prelate of Opus Dei, in the Vatican, who was accompanied by Fr. Mariano Fazio, Auxiliary Vicar of the Prelature.
In a posted message On the Opus Dei website, Bishop Ocáriz expressed his joy at the meeting with the Holy Father and shared that he was able to convey “the affection and union of the faithful of Opus Dei to him, and I have informed him of the work that They were held last April during the days of the extraordinary general congress”.
“I was also able to tell him about the atmosphere of those days, and about the desire for fidelity to the charism of Saint Josemaría and for union with the Pope, which was manifested in everyone,” he added.
The Prelate then explained that he has communicated to Pope Francis “that we have begun to work with the Department of Clergy on the document that resulted from the congress, for the decision to be made by the Holy See.”
Also mentioning that he was able to share with the Holy Father various apostolic works that they carry out to “transmit the proclamation of the Gospel and serve many people”, Bishop Ocáriz highlighted the joy of the Pope.
“The Holy Father expressed his joy for everything he heard, he commented on the good that many Opus Dei people do in the world, and at the same time he encouraged us to spread our spirit everywhere in service to the Church”, indicated the Prelate. .

The Extraordinary General Congress of Opus Dei
