Pope Francis thanks for the success of the apostolic journey and remembers Ukraine

During a public meeting at the Vatican on Wednesday, February 8, Pope Francis recalled his visit to South Sudan as part of his 40th apostolic journey and the people of Ukraine who continue to suffer from war.

Pope Francis thanked everyone who helped him to successfully complete his apostolic journey. Referring specifically to his trip to South Sudan, the Pope specifically thanked the country’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit. He also thanked everyone who worked hard to make his trip a success.

The Pope wished that the seeds of God’s kingdom of love, justice and peace would be planted in the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan and all of Africa.

Ecumenical Journey

The Pope, who described it as an ecumenical pilgrimage during his apostolic journey, was accompanied on his journey by the Anglican Church President, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, General Assembly Moderator of the Churches of Scotland, Dr. Thanks also to Ian Greenshields.

Ukraine in war terror

The Pope also specifically mentioned the people of Ukraine. The Pope reminded us to remember the people of Ukraine who are suffering from the hardships of winter, the lack of electricity and the energy crisis, along with the ravages of the current war.

The Pope recalled the apostolic journey and the people of Ukraine while speaking at the usual public meeting at the Vatican on Wednesday, February 8.

In a video message released on February 7, Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk, head of the Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine, said that the Donbass in Ukraine is burning and that Russia is continuing to attack five regions, including Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
