The Vatican has announced that 86-year-old Pope Francis will undergo emergency surgery under general anesthesia this Wednesday, June 7, afternoon in Rome, due to the risk of intestinal obstruction.
The pontiff’s medical team reported that surgical intervention is “necessary” due to the worsening of the symptoms presented and that Pope Francis will be hospitalized for “several days”.
The news was released in a statement by the director of the press service of the Holy See, Matteo Bruni.
