Ruffini also clarified that the objective of this first session is to “initiate this discernment” and stressed that each member will be given a copy of all the documents that have been published since the beginning of the process: the preparatory document, the working document for the continental assembly, the reports of the continental assembly and the An instrument of labor.
He also reported that the work of the Synod will begin on October 4 after a spiritual retreat that will take place from the 1st to the 3rd of that month.
The official languages of the Synod will be Italian, English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. Furthermore, he specified that the work will be divided into five modules: synodality, communion, mission, participation, and approval of the Report of this session.
Likewise, he detailed that each module will include plenary sessions (called General Congregations) and work groups (called Minor Circles), and will begin with a Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica.
