Popi Tsapanidou will take the seat of Othonas Iliopoulos, as the first alternate in the SYRIZA’s national electoral list.
In a post, Ms. Tsapanidou stated that “a little while ago, I was officially called by the Parliamentary Presidium, based on what is stipulated in the Constitution, the electoral process, and the Parliament’s regulations, to fill the vacant seat as the first alternate in the SYRIZA PS national list.”
“Considering the fact that the SYRIZA national list has been validated by the Greek people in two consecutive electoral contests, I take on the highest responsibility to respond to what the Constitution and the popular verdict demand,” she added.
The Oath Ceremony on Friday
The oath ceremony as a member of Parliament is expected to take place next Friday, August 30.
Ms. Tsapanidou had a meeting this morning with the director of the political office of Stefanos Kasselakis, Manolis Kapnisakis. During the meeting, at the SYRIZA offices in Koumoundourou, she accepted the seat.
