Paraguayan football’s three-time champion, Libertad, did not fail at the start of its journey in the Clausura tournament, where it will go in search of a new title, and did so by beating Tacuary in Villa Elisa.
The final result was 4-2 with goals from Antonio Bareiro, Hugo Martínez, Rubén Lezcano and Rodrigo Villalba for “Guma”. While for “Tacua” Nicolás Morínigo had momentarily scored and he himself scored near the end to decorate the result.
Libertad had absolute control of the game from the start and although there were moments in which they felt some discomfort due to some attempts by their rival, from the moment they managed to get ahead on the scoreboard their advantage was never compromised.
Ariel Galeano’s team had already shown a dominant performance against Universidad Católica of Ecuador in the middle of the week, in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana playoffs, and this Saturday they performed in the same way again.
Tacuary, which starts the second semester with water up to its neck and forced to add as many points as possible to escape relegation, had some insinuations with Feliciano Brizuela as the most unbalanced on the right side and the weight of Nicolás Morínigo up front, but it is still very far away in terms of competitiveness.
However, the first goal of the match came just after half an hour, when “Demonio” Bareiro ran into space and received a pass from Roque Santa Cruz, before scoring a clean sheet after facing goalkeeper Vágner.
Libertad had already done most of the work in the first half, as Hugo Martínez made it 2-0 in the 41st minute and although Tacuary scored through Nicolás Morínigo shortly after, Rubén Lezcano made it 3-1 from a penalty.
In the second half, Rodrigo Villalba scored a goal and near the end, Nicolás Morínigo once again sealed the score with a great shot, making it 4-2.
