Madonna’s eldest adopted son has made a statement that is sparking a huge debate about the idea of coming of age and seeking independence.
David Banda, the Frozen singer’s pet, decided to make his own way after turning 18, moving in with his girlfriend in New York.
In a live broadcast he did with his fans, he confessed that when he became independent he found that living outside the family home meant finding an empty refrigerator and going hungry.
“It’s great to experience life alone, to come home at 9pm hungry and realise you have no money to buy food, and there’s nothing in the house either,” he said with a laugh.
Since he left home, he has been leading a normal life, but very different from the one he led with his mother Madonna. He lives in a working-class neighborhood of the Bronx, but he described the experience as fun.
Asked about Madonna, he said she is not alone. “She is dating a guy… That is her life. She will do what she wants to do,” he said.
What is known is that he left home without conflict with his mother, but Madonna is also reportedly leaving him without financial assistance since he became independent, possibly so that he can experience what it is like to try to generate resources to survive.
