Thalassery: A CPI (M) local committee member who posted a pornographic video on a WhatsApp group in Thalassery municipality ward has been expelled by the party’s local committee. The incident took place in the 43rd ward WhatsApp group of Thalassery municipality. The party took action against Thalassery town local committee member PP Mohandas. The video was posted on the WhatsApp group in Mariamma Ward.

Police have registered a case against three persons, including Youth Congress state general secretary and Kaypamangalam candidate Sobha Subin, for circulating a morphed video of a woman leader. But it is alleged that no further action was taken. The other accused are Nattika constituency president Sumesh Panadil and constituency office bearer Afzal.

The case was registered by the Mathilakam police on the complaint of the woman. The case is that the morphed pornographic video was circulated through social media. The video appeared on social media on February 9. It was later widely circulated. According to the complaint filed by the woman leader, the film was morphed into her own name and title. The woman then lodged a complaint with the Kodungallur DySP. Police say they are investigating the complaint further
