Porsche Celebrates 60th Anniversary of 911 with Limited Edition Model

Porsche enthusiasts have reason to rejoice as the luxury car manufacturer celebrates the 60th anniversary of its iconic 911 model. To mark this momentous occasion, Porsche has unveiled a special edition of the 911 called the 911 S/T, designed to provide a maximum driving experience. With only 1,963 units available, this limited edition model promises a lightweight design and a purist driving experience.

One of the most notable features of the 911 S/T is the manual gearbox and lightweight clutch, which was previously only seen in the 911 GT3 RS. The high-revving engine of the GT3 RS delivers its power to the road through this manual transmission, offering driving enthusiasts an unparalleled experience.

Built for sheer driving enjoyment, the 911 S/T combines the agility and dynamics of the 911 GT3 with Touring Package and the 911 GT3 RS. It features a 4.0-litre boxer engine from the GT3 RS, delivering 386 kW (525 PS). The lightweight construction of the 911 S/T, weighing just 1,380 kilograms, further enhances its performance.

In addition to its performance capabilities, the 911 S/T pays homage to the racing version of the 911 S from the late 1960s and early 1970s with its optional Heritage Design Package. This package draws inspiration from the past, featuring design elements reminiscent of the original 911 S. The exterior of the car can be customized with a starting number and decorative foil, giving it a unique touch.

Porsche engineers have focused on creating a lightweight design for the 911 S/T. Carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) is used for the front bonnet, roof, front wings, and doors, while magnesium wheels, lightweight glass, and other lightweight components further contribute to its reduced weight.

The 911 S/T is equipped with a new lightweight clutch and a single-mass flywheel, reducing the weight of the rotating mass by 10.5 kg. This improves the engine’s responsiveness, allowing it to build revs quickly and deliver an exhilarating driving experience. With a six-speed manual transmission and a shorter gear ratio, the 911 S/T accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and achieves a top speed of 300 km/h.

The aerodynamics of the 911 S/T are optimized for driving on public roads, rather than on the racetrack. It features a Gurney flap on the extending rear spoiler, ensuring stability and performance. The car is also equipped with 20-inch front and 21-inch rear lightweight centre-locking magnesium wheels for increased grip.

For those seeking an even more exclusive experience, the 911 S/T offers an optional Heritage Design Package. This package includes special exterior colors, classic Porsche crest logos, and unique interior features, such as cloth seat centers and two-tone leather trim.

To complement the launch of the 911 S/T, Porsche Design is offering an exclusive Chronograph 1 – 911 S/T timepiece. This luxury watch features a titanium case and is designed to reflect the lightweight principles of the 911 S/T.

With its limited production numbers and exclusive features, the Porsche 911 S/T is sure to be a highly sought-after model among Porsche enthusiasts and collectors alike. This special edition pays tribute to the iconic 911, combining the best elements of Porsche’s racing heritage and modern engineering.
