About 20,000 jobs associated with the Port Authority will be created by the end of 2024, said Ports, Shipping and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.
He also pointed out that the Adani company is completing the work of the Colombo Port Jetty and the jetty will be constructed at a cost of 580 million US dollars.
For this, he also mentioned that around 5,000 jobs will be created at the port.
Also, the minister pointed out that around 15,000 direct jobs will be created and said that all those jobs will be created mostly through the private sector.
More benefits for employees
In particular, the minister said that the port authority earned 90 billion rupees last year and from that, net profit of 23 billion rupees or 2300 crores excluding all expenses such as employee salaries, government taxes and operations.
It has also been pointed out that more benefits will be given to the employees when the businesses are created through the private sector.
