Port of Owendo: AGL will invest more than 20 billion FCFA in 2024

DIG/ The Prime Minister, Head of the transitional government, Raymond Ndong Sima, received in audience, on the morning of Wednesday December 20, 2023, Olivier De Noray, General Director of port solutions at Africa Global logistics.

The latter, who has been on a working visit since Monday, December 18 in Libreville, took advantage of this audience to reaffirm AGL’s commitment to supporting the transition authorities in their desire to work for “the rise of Gabon towards happiness”.

Mr. De Noray presented to the Prime Minister the company’s activities in Gabon where it is present in the cities of Libreville, Port-Gentil, Franceville, Moanda and Lastourville.

He also lifted the veil on the investment plan of Owendo Container Terminal for the year 2024 and which amounts to more than 20 billion CFA francs.

Particularly with the acquisition of two new quay gantry cranes and five park gantry cranes (RTG), to modernize the production tool and increase the competitiveness of the port of Owendo.

”In the coming months we will double the handling capacity of boats arriving in Owendo”announced Olivier de Noray.

This will lead to a strengthening of the capacities of the staff, made up of 98% Gabonese men and women, and an increase in the workforce of Owendo Container Terminal, and hence of AGL Gabon which already has nearly 800 direct jobs.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the option prescribed by the President of the Transition, Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, to create the necessary incentives to reassure and encourage investors already present in Gabon and attract new ones.

AGL, through its General Manager of Port Solutions, reassured the Prime Minister regarding the strategic options of the company’s management aimed at strengthening, consolidating and expanding AGL’s presence in Gabon.

Note that the hearing took place in the presence of the general director of AGL Gabon, Patrick Gerenthon.
