BRASILIA (Reuters) – The Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, stated this Monday that the port of Santos will not be privatized, but considered that there is room for partnerships with the private sector.

“We are not going to privatize the port of Santos, but we are also going to expand dialogue with the entire productive sector in São Paulo,” said the minister in an interview with CNN Brasil.

“Even the public port has a lot of PPP that can be done within the port. This is what we want to work towards. The port does not need to be privatized for us to be able to have privatizations”, he added, guaranteeing that it will involve political leaders — in this case the Governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, co-religionist of the minister — in all negotiations involving the department’s investments in the State.
