The president of the Portalegre Chamber admitted to “many difficulties” faced by the municipal services in removing an “abnormal” amount of waste, especially bulky waste, deposited by residents on public roads in recent times.
In statements made this Monday during the municipal executive meeting, Fermelinda Carvalho explained that the increase in bulky waste deposited on public roads is partly due to a significant number of “vacancies in housing” at this time of year.
On the other hand, the elected official complains that there are residents who do not request the municipal services to collect the bulky waste they deposit on public roads.
Fermelinda Carvalho assured that a “doubled effort” has been made to ensure the cleanliness of the city streets and other public spaces but acknowledged that it has been “a difficult summer.”
