PortCastelló recovers positions and enters the Top 10 in cargo traffic |

Port Castello jobs recover and it is now the ninth port in cargo traffic in the ranking of the Spanish port system, and it enters the Top 10 of the 46 ports of general interest. In this way, the port of Castellón goes from 11th place to 9th place in just seven months.

The port of Castellón moved a total of 10,356,2235 tons until July, which represents an increase of 1.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, and avoids the ports of the Balearic Islands and Gijón.

This tonnage moved represents a 60.9% growth in traffic so far this year in the Castellón area, and represents the best month in freight traffic in the last 14 months.

The president of the Castellón Port Authority, Rubén Ibanez, said that the figures confirm “the growth path of PortCastelló, and we see how we exceed the amount of traffic month after month.”

Ibáñez emphasized “the work done during the past year and the impulse given to get out of the atony and routine in which the port of Castellón had fallen.” In fact, he recalled that when he joined as president of the Castellón Port Authority, the port was in 11th place in the ranking.

The increase in freight traffic in PortCastelló was one of the promises made by Rubén Ibanez a year ago during his inauguration ceremony. “We have had numerous meetings and working meetings to recover lost shipping lines and to inform the ceramic sector of the advantages of operating through the port of Castellón.”

In fact, the growth in freight traffic is mainly due to the import of raw materials for the ceramic sector and the increase in general merchandise “due to the movement of more containers and wind blades.”

Rubén Ibáñez expressed that “we continue to work to improve current data, strengthen existing shipping companies and projection spaces for new companies.”
