The Porté-Puymorens resort (Pyrénées-Orientales) kicks off the 2023-2024 ski season in the French Pyrenees with an opening this Saturday, November 25 at 8:45 a.m. and for the entire duration of the weekend. According to the webcam available on the resort’s website, the snow is indeed there.

“It fell at the start of the week between 30 and 40 cm. The cold that is setting in has allowed us to prepare the slopes well,” rejoices Éric Charre, director of the SPL Trio which brings together the resorts of Porté-Puymorens, Cambre d’Aze and Formiguères. “Nearly half of the ski area is accessible, i.e. nearly eight kilometers of slopes between 1,900 and 2,500 m.”

A taste of skiing for ski fans “who don’t hesitate to drive four hours to join us! », assures the director of Trio who expects to welcome between 1,500 and 2,000 skiers this first weekend. The resort will then close its doors for a few days to reopen them every weekend in December, in particular from December 6 to 10, right on time to welcome Catalan skiers on vacation for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception .

Font-Romeu and the Angles on December 1st

The Cambre d’Aze station will also open between December 6 and 10, then the two stations will hit their stride with opening every day from December 22. The third station managed by the SPL Trio, Formiguères, must join the ball on December 22.

New this season, for Formiguères but also for the entire Pyrenean massif, will be the Camporells mixed teleport, a combination of chairlifts and cable cars which will take hikers, winter and summer, near the Camporells lakes, all the way to throughout the year. Concerning Font-Romeu – Pyrénées 2000 and Les Angles, the start of the season will be given on December 1st.
