As part of its portraits, Priorité Santé invites you to discover today one of the figures of medical research in Senegal: Dr Amadou Sall, virologist, director of the Pasteur Institute in Dakar since 2016.

Drawing on the experience of the Ebola epidemic in 2014 and the Covid-19 pandemic, this arbovirus specialist wants to see the advances in science applied directly to public health problems in Africa. He pleads for regional health sovereignty, which is based on local production of drugs, biological tests and vaccines. In this spirit, the Pasteur Institutewhich has produced yellow fever vaccine for more than 80 years, is building a new vaccine manufacturing site in Diamniadio.
