Portrait – Who is Fatoumata Binta Baldé, new advisor in charge of mining infrastructure to the Minister of Mines?

Mrs. Diallo Fatoumata Binta Baldé, married and mother of three children, was appointed Tuesday, August 27, 2024, Advisor in charge of mining infrastructure to the Minister of Mines and Geology, by decree of the President of the Republic, Army Corps General, Mamadi Doumbouya.

This appointment comes at the right time to strengthen and expand infrastructure development in a key sector of the national economy.

With over 15 years of experience, both nationally and internationally, Ms. Binta has established herself as an undisputed expert in the management of major public, private and institutional projects. Having worked in bilingual and multidisciplinary environments, she has managed several programs to improve the business climate, private sector development, and entrepreneurship, while integrating gender and community management dimensions.

Holder
– a Masters in International Strategy and Diplomacy from the London School of Economics in London;
– a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs – Syracuse University in the United States;
– a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from the John Molson School of Business – Concordia University in Canada; and
– a degree in Economics from the University of Montreal;
Binta Baldé has a solid and diverse academic background that strengthens her abilities to effectively design, plan and execute complex and innovative projects on a national and international scale.

Recently, as a Senior Expert at the World Bank Group, she led the integration of gender and entrepreneurship issues into the development policies of a dozen countries by coordinating projects in the Sahel region, notably supporting initiatives in Guinea, Mali, Côte d’Ivoire, Chad, Burkina Faso, etc. Her responsibilities also include strengthening networks between local entrepreneurs and the International Finance Corporation. Ms. Binta has also managed large-scale projects as Logistics and Warehousing Manager at Bolloré Logistics in Guinea.

Known for her results orientation, Binta excels in delivering high-quality, high-value projects. Her natural leadership, combined with great creativity, allows her to propose innovative solutions with a measurable impact. Her commitment and work ethic have earned her unanimous recognition among her peers. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards for her leadership and contribution to community development, such as:

From 2016 to 2019, she contributed significantly to the Ministry of Budget of Guinea, structuring revenue mobilization programs and participating in the creation of the one-stop shop for foreign trade. More recently, she played a key role in the establishment of the first Commercial Court of Conakry and the development of the first platform for connecting suppliers and large national and international companies in Guinea – the Bourse de Sous-Traitance et de Partenariats. Her efforts in women’s empowerment and youth engagement, particularly through the “Crossover” program encouraging women to work in sectors that are predominantly male-dominated, illustrate her dedication to the socio-economic improvement of Guinea and vulnerable people.
