It should be noted that, by type of traffic, 80.9% of the cargo was a product of international movement (58.3% export and 22.5% import), followed by transshipment cargo with 12.3%. of cargo and cabotage with 5.6%.

By port area, 27.3% of the cargo was moved through Cartagena (24.7 million tons), followed by Ciénaga with 19.4% (17.6 million tons) and the Gulf of Morrosquillo with 14. % (12.7 million tons).

In percentage terms, the areas with the greatest increase in exports were Turbo with an increase of 21.4% (380 thousand tons), followed by Guajira with 17.6% (11.8 million tons) and Ciénaga, which shows the greatest increase. 2.9pp and in absolute terms an increase of 2.5 million additional tons.

The port area that increased its imports the most in percentage terms was Río Magdalena with 41.4% more, compared to the same period in 2023, while in absolute values ​​Barranquilla increased by 525 thousand tons of imports, which is equivalent to an increase of 15% compared to the previous year. same period of the previous year.

For January to June 2024, 5,595 ships arrived, meaning there was a 26.6% drop in arrivals (2,028 ships less than in 2023). The area that received the most vessels was Cartagena with 2,317 vessels (41.4% of the total vessels), while the port area that received the least was Tumaco with 17 vessels (0.3% of the total vessels).
