Portugal 2030 opens funds to SMEs: 95% goes to North, Center and Alentejo

Applications for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) opened this Wednesday for support from the new Portugal 2030 community framework for productive innovation by micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the five regions of the continent: North, Centre, Lisbon, Alentejo and Algarve.

The tender includes 400 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Reserved are 125 million euros for inland and low-density territories. Unlike the funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), this support from the ERDF is mainly concentrated in less developed regions.

To support SMEs in the less developed regions of the North, Center and Alentejo there are 380 million euros to tender. For SMEs in other regions, there are 20 million euros: 10 million euros for Lisbon and 10 million euros for the Algarve. Applications run until December 15. The financing rate is capped at 40%.

Business investment projects of an innovative nature can be applied for, between 250 thousand euros and 25 million euros, which translate into the production of tradable and international goods and services with high added value and a level of national incorporation.

In the case of Alentejo Litoral, operations that fall within the renewable energy, agri-food and tourism sectors are not eligible.

The Norte 2030 regional program includes a specific allocation of at least four million euros for the creative cultural sector, of which one million euros in inland territories.
